Information on Pregnancy

Friday, October 9th, 2009

Nearly all fertility clinics will offer you a pregnancy test within two weeks after your treatment but if you want to do one for yourself, home tests will also give you a pretty true indication after fourteen days. It is important to remember though that if the test is carried out too soon after the treatment, the test might show a false positive.

If you are unsure, then there are physical signs of being pregnant for instance: feeling nauseous, using the bathroom more frequently, missed periods, mood shifts, tiredness and improved sensation of aromas and taste.

More often than not, the fertility clinic will keep in contact in the first few weeks when you become pregnant to perform ultrasound scans to monitor the growth of your baby. Do not be too worried if you have one of those clinics that do not continue support after their work is done so alternative arrangements will have to be sorted out to look after your pregnancy and birth care.

Pregnancy

Some people take a little while to get used to the fact that they are going to have a child after a course of fertility treatment so don’t worry if, initially, you are not as excited about as you believed you would be. Despite the circumstances, this is ok, but the important thing is to learn to live with your feelings whatever they are, and to take into consideration that nearly all mums-to-be go through a mixture of emotions on learning they are pregnant whether they have been through fertility treatment or not.

Despite information to the contrary, there is hardly any physical difference between an individual who is expecting normally to another who has received fertility treatment, except they may find it more emotionally challenging. For some women, it may be essential for them to have supplemental scans at the hospital. These include previous miscarriages (or stillbirths), if expecting more than one baby and of course, your general health. Another important factor could be the pregnant mothers age because the older you get there is the likelihood that complications may occur.

More than a million infants around the world have been born as a consequence of aided conception treatment such as IVF and the chances are you will give bear a healthy baby. It is not possible to say that there will not be any problems found in a pregnancy, irrespective of whether it was aided or not because they all carry some risk but most of the time these are mainly minor. Easier to say than to do, you should try to relax during the pregnancy and enjoy the time as much as you can.

It is a harsh reality but the number of women who have a miscarriage after getting fertility treatment such as IVF is just a little higher than those who get pregnant normally. Ordinarily there are only a couple of situations that can cause this: the first being that women that undergo fertility treatment experience a pregnancy test in the early days of the pregnancy. Then there is the case where a woman who has become pregnant by the natural method could think she has had a late period but has in fact created an embryo that did not implant correctly. Secondly, the risk of miscarriage rises with age because women who have fertility treatment are ususally, more mature than those who conceive normally. If you have any other concerns it is best to consult with your doctor at the fertility clinic.

Introduction to Asthma

Friday, June 5th, 2009

One of the biggest problems affecting health around the world is asthma. That does not make it any easier for the many sufferers who find at times they are unable to breath. Respiratory conditions affect the daily life of everyone who suffers with them and severe attacks can even lead to death.

There are ways to reduce the risks of attacks though by carefully monitoring the condition which is the responsibility of the asthma sufferer on a daily basis. The specific medical treatment depends on the severity of the condition and the frequency of symptoms and specific treatments for it are broadly classified as relief medications, preventive medications and emergency treatment.

Asthma

Bronchodilators are recommended for short-term relief for all patients but those with mild occasional attacks need no other medication. For asthma patients with frequent but still mild attacks then a low-dose glucocorticoid or a leukotriene modifier should be all that is required as well as a standard Bronchodilator.

By careful monitoring of the asthmatics condition, it should not be difficult to recognize just exactly what it is that triggers an attack. Medical science has now confirmed that the poorer the air quality the greater the chance that this and other respiratory problems will occur.

The medication to help prevent and treat attacks is very effective but should only be used sparingly as longer term problems like tiredness, dizzy spells, liver problems, depression and even impotence can be the result of continued use. Increasingly patients with respiratory conditions are opting for more natural remedies that do not have side-effects.

The drugs used contain a catalyst which is designed to soothe and reduce the hyperactivity experienced by the body during an attack and thereby, strengthening it. The catalysts contained in the natural medications are different as they do not have any side-effects so reduce the stress on the system naturally.

Now yoga is being used as a natural substitute to medication as some yoga disciplines are centered on breath control which many asthma sufferers are finding beneficial to their condition and overall well-being. The main focus however, should be on the asthma patient learning to control their own condition.

Read More About Alcohol Abuse

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

Most of the time those of us that drink avoid the issue of alcohol abuse and perhaps for a little while that is a good idea but you cannot avoid it forever. Sad to say, the long duration of alcohol association can pilot the way to more problems, reality and mythically speaking.

Alcohol Abuse

Most of us are often given the wrong idea and thus tend to believe that the abuse or over use of alcohol is more likely to bestow us an irretrievable condition leading to the development of a more fatal “disease” for which recovery is a mortifying and endless struggle, and that being a drunk is far more considerable. This situation is further muddied by most “assessments” which only serve to justify one-size-fits-all treatment that almost never includes either moderation or real recovery as options. Regardless of the studies, we all know that it is still based on experiences of the way people deal with their alcohol use which is also similar to the way they give attention to smoking, weight loss, and their many other irritating dilemmas.

It has been said that the considerable amount of a healthy alcohol consumption for an adult man are as follows: two drinks of distilled spirits, two bottles of beer, or one half bottle of wine per day; and half of this intake should be enough for adult women. Apparently these limits allow the beneficial and cut out the damaging effects of alcohol. Though it can be possible that you will devour into more alcohol than you can manage whenever you will find yourself trapped in a social gathering or event, your average consumption should still be limited to the recommended restrictions.

More often than not, these symptoms go hand in hand but the occurrence of either of the two is more than enough to make you worry. Causes are usually due to solitude, tiredness, lack of company and things to do. Arbitration is the normal practice at this stage with the aim to bring down the consumption level to healthy limits but counselling advice could cull out the real reasons behind this condition and can help restore normalcy.

The re-establishment of a healthy and normal drinking consumption is the most common solution however, the most suggested option is the total seclusion of one’s self from drinking for about one to two years. This solution had given many people the focus towards the total abandonment of drinking since they were able to successfully modify their ways into living a more satisfying and productive lives. The degree to which the infiltration of alcohol to a person is greatly affecting his or her physical, emotional, and psychological aspects is often the result of an alcohol addiction or alcoholism. In the process of alcohol abandonment, certain withdrawal symptoms can be observed such as tremors and seizures in the physical aspect, blackouts on the psychological side and some part of our lives such as financial, legal, vocational, marital, recreational, social and medical will also tend to experience alcohol-related breakdowns. Though this is not a very acceptable figure, about one third of all diagnosed alcoholics come down to moderate levels.

Taking into consideration the various aspects of life like social, physical and psychological sectors which are adversely affected, this stage needs medical intervention as well as professional mentoring. Since recovery is never an easy process, results may vary and the likelihood that success will come its way isn’t that clear, although, you should always look in the brighter side of life and let the person’s willpower reach its zenith united with the proper motivation to avoid the feeling of helplessness. The healthy and moderate consumption levels of alcohol are never hard to achieve again even if such person tends go beyond the normal alcohol consumption and had been a dependent to it. As noted by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, in a one year span, American adults who were suffering from alcohol addiction with a number of about 58 percent were able to trim down the levels of their alcohol consumption in a moderate manner.

You should be informed that therapies with just a single option and think that their program will work for everybody regardless of their diverse condition is something that should not appeal to you especially if you have found yourself needing it or anybody in the family or circle of friends since you can resort to those treatments offering a variety of options. You wouldn’t accept a single treatment for every stage and type of a real disease like cancer, don’t be fooled into accepting one for a non-disease like alcohol abuse.
